People and Timing.
Had coffee this morning with one of my colleagues and a CFO here in Indy.
Great conversation on a variety of topics.
As the CFO reflected a bit on his career, he talked about evaluating the people involved when considering an opportunity.
Were the owners/investors/executives good people?
Do they have a proven track record of success?
Do you trust them? Do you believe in them?
I thought it was awesome insight. So many interview tips are short-sighted and tactical.
Some of that is important.
But, especially for leadership/exec roles, you’re interviewing the people.
Timing isn’t as controllable.
But, you can control the networking you do and the relationships you build.
People and Timing.
Two of the most important factors in your career.
